Check out the BioMed Device Show, May 3-4th, Boston Convention Center!

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

The advancements in sensors, coupled with the ever-increasing compute and communication capabilities of smart phones are providing healthcare providers with remote, instantaneous, personalized diagnostic and treatment capabilities. Implementing products with these capabilities present potential challenges – from how to design products to be user friendly, safe, secure, and embraced by users to the changing regulatory landscape, to how to analyze and manage the exponential increase in data generated by these technologies such that people’s lives are improved/saved without either compromising personal information or generating false or unnecessary alarms.

Acorn has been developing medical and laboratory products for our clients for many years, and have the experience, ecosystem of suppliers, and processes to deliver products that are manufacturable and meet/exceed your product goals. These products include wearables, desktop laboratory equipment, patient care/treatment systems, and more.

We’re pleased to announce that we will again be exhibiting at the BioMed Device Show, May3-4th at the Boston Convention Center, booth#847. The show is produced in partnership with the Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC), and has conference tracks, networking events, and over 400 exhibitors. It also houses 3 additional shows under the same roof – Plastics New England, Design and Manufacturing New England, and the Embedded Systems Conference.

This year’s conference focuses on three areas:

  • Product Development
  • Emerging Sensor Technology
  • Healthcare IoT

Engineers and engineering managers, as well as product managers who are involved with product development will have access to talks and panel discussions focusing their experience in addressing these challenges, along with discussions on future technology and product trends, and the potential impact on users and healthcare providers. Speakers from Phillips, Johnson & Johnson, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and others will be speaking and participating on these panels. There will also be specific events/venues around sensors, and wearables.

In addition, MassMEDIC will holding their annual conference at the show on May 3 from 8-12:30. The program includes:

  • Medical Technology Focus – The Liquid Biopsy Chip – Nanotechnology for Diagnosing Metastasis
  • Panel discussion on Three Critical Regulatory Issues Facing MedTech
  • What’s Ahead for MedTech Reimbursement – A New Paradigm for Payment?
  • How Will MedTech Fare in our New Public Policy Environment?
